Grand Canyon Rafting - Lower River
Description
This non-motorized trip is for men looking for the ultimate whitewater adventure, paddling 137 miles of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon from Pipe Creek to Diamond Creek. The trip begins with a 7.5 mile hike down the Bright Angel trail from the south rim. Participants will be paddling for most of the length of the trip and everyone is expected to pull their own weight. The paddle rafts foster great camaraderie as the paddlers maneuver the raft together. All participants must be in excellent physical condition. Previous rafting experience is not required, but highly encouraged. Beyond the rafting portion of your trip, this adventure includes beautiful back country camping and some of the most incredible side hike opportunities in the Grand Canyon. It is also about the awe inspiring night skies, companionship among the guides and other participants, and the Grand Canyon herself. It is an expedition style trip and we hope you are along for the experience of a lifetime.
SD6 Travel Adventures is facilitating this custom charter trip through Arizona Raft Adventures.
Itinerary
The trip begins with a 7.5 mile hike descending the Bright Angel Trail from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and ends back in Flagstaff. Plan to attend our 7:00 p.m. orientation meeting at the South Rim the evening before your hike down the Bright Angel Trail. Bright and early on the morning of your trip, you will carry your backpack of personal gear down the Bright Angel Trail. Your guides will be awaiting your arrival at the Pipe Creek beach, where you will begin your trip. The hike down the Bright Angel Trail is extremely arduous and may be the hardest part of your trip.
When you reach Diamond Creek mid-morning of the last day, we will transport you by bus back to Flagstaff. The return time is usually sometime between 3-7 p.m. but we do not guarantee the exact arrival time. Although rare, in the case of severe flooding on Diamond Creek Road (the road we have to travel down to pick you up at Diamond Creek), we will have to take you all the way to Lake Mead. You will still return to Flagstaff that day but it will be late in the evening.
